On Rosh Chodesh Adar II, 5758 - March 6, 2008 - a terrorist infiltrated the Yeshivat Mercaz HaRav -Yeshivat Yerushalayim L'Tzeirim (Yashlatz high school) shared campus and killed eight young students of the two yeshivot while injuring dozens more. Throughout Israel and the larger Jewish world people were shocked and horrified. Reaching out to each other over the void of our loss, their friends and classmates discovered that remembering those precious souls by telling and retelling stories of their scholarship and fine midos was a great comfort. They discovered that each of the young men lost in the attack, though still in the bud of first youth, was already a proven tzaddik.

It is now a year since their passing and many of these shared stories, recollections, impressions, along with profound words of Torah written by family members, friends, and teachers have been collected into this precious volume. Princes Among Men is a wellspring of inspiration and a lasting tribute that enables the light of their lives to shine and keep on shining.

I will second the first reviewer. This is a book that breaks your heart, but also plants a seed of hope. There is laughter in it as well as grief, because it tells of eight lives that were joyful till the last day. It should be read by everyone, but especially by those who are concerned about today's youth. These eight radiant personalities hy"d, seen through the eyes of parents, teachers, siblings and friends, have much to teach those who remain behind. May their memory inspire young people to continue their unfinished work.
