Welcome to Yeshiva Makom Torah, a fictional yeshiva in New Jersey. We’ll start our journey with Rabbi Karr’s fifth-grade class of twenty boys, and we’ll follow them through a jam-packed year.

Will you identify with Jojo, a very bright young man, but a sore loser? How about Abie, the self- appointed class clown?

Although his friends enjoy his antics, his Rebbi and English teacher don’t, to say the least. Perhaps it will be Eli, a great athlete with a learning disability.

Benny is a nice boy, but with his brother’s help causes quite a disruption in the yeshiva building. Another one of the boys in the class has a very exciting secret — one that involves the FBI!

Chaim is a new and popular addition to the class. However, he has an issue of his own that makes things seem difficult at times. Danny the class leader also has a secret, and he’s very worried about his friends finding it out. Sadly, there is a boy in the class that bullies his classmates. Will the boys he’s bullied finally learn how to handle themselves?

Aside from the boys in the class, we get to meet Rabbi Shlomo Karr. All he really wants to do is teach Torah all day, and he isn’t fond of the disruptions that occur throughout the year. You’ll also meet Rabbi Naftali Paritzky, the beloved and powerful Menahel of the yeshiva. Yeshiva Makom Torah even has a Mashgiach, and he’s earned the respect of all the talmidim. There is something in his past that almost nobody knows about. Almost.

Whether you’re a boy or girl, a parent, or even a Rebbi, there’s something in this book for you. Sit back and relax, and welcome to Fifth Grade!

This is a book that was enjoyed by all ages. Our 3rd-grade daughter, our 11th-grade son, and all the kids in between loved the book. I'll try to summarize it.
It's a novel about 20 boys in a 5th-grade class. throughout the novel, we see how the boys interact with each other, their parents, and the rebi. There are some funny chapters and some chapters that are a bit scarier. I wish that yeshivas asked questions about the book. For example, what could Avigdor have done differently or was Sammy right in covering for Abie? Kids would be able to understand themselves better.

I think this should be required reading for everyone.

    We highly recommend this book.

There are so many artists putting out new music, and similarly, there are many new authors in the Jewish literature scene. It's challenging to find a book that all my kids can enjoy. They aren't super readers, but Chezky, my nine-year-old, begged me to get this book since his friends loved it.

The book is a very long book comparatively speaking. I've noticed that most children's books are somewhat short. This book has to be at least 100K words. Even so, it took him one day to read it. We heard him laughing in the den, and finally my older kids decided to check it out.

My 16-year-old son read it and told me "Tatti, this is the best Jewish book ever!" So my wife and I read it. He wasn't wrong. This book has everything. Life lessons. Parenting lessons. Middos lessons. It's chock full of information. If you haven't picked up a copy, you're missing out on something special.

I’m not the review type, actually my husband says this is the first review he’s ever seen me write. On Friday last week, I took my kids suit shopping for my son’s upcoming Bar Mitzvah. When we passed a seforim store, I decided to push him to pick a book. He’s not really the reading type, but I insisted he try to enjoy a book. He chose this book based on the cover. When he finished the meal, (translation - after the soup course) he began to read it. After twenty or so minutes, I sent my husband to see where he was.

He was sprawled on the floor of the den. My husband called me to look. He looked up and said, and I’m quoting, “This is the best book ever! It’s so real and funny!” I practically burst out crying. He hates to read. I had to take it away because he was still reading after 11:00 at night.

When he finally finished, I decided to read it, and I think I enjoyed it more than he did. I felt like I was a fly on the wall in these kid’s houses! This is a funny and entertaining book that is not only accurate, but imparts valuable Chinuch lessons. 10/10 recommended!

As I wrote to Feldheim, this was the first time in many years that my kids read a Jewish book. The only book that they enjoyed up until now, was the Kichel series. My husband and I spent the better part of yesterday listening to the kids laughing as they read.

Not only did the kids enjoy the book, but there are lots of lessons for parents. When I read what happened to Nechemia when his mother read his mail, I realized that I'm guilty of the same behavior.

My daughter came into the den last night crying from laughter. I didn't read the chapter, but she told us that Abie got into trouble with a candy man who he drove crazy.

The introduction alone was reason enough to buy the book. The author called ADHD a gift, and that's such a great mindset. If I could have given this book 10 stars, I would have.

In my children's Yeshivos, they frown upon the kids reading non-Jewish books. Until now, my kids always complained they had nothing to read. I bought this book in Lakewood a few days ago, and I ended up buying a second one. My 14-year-old son was laughing out loud (When Abie threw in the mushy apple), and my girls wanted to see what was funny. With 4 kids, I had to buy a second book to keep the ratio of books to children fair. As a parent, I decided to read the book to see what my kids were reading. Wow wow wow! It's an amazing story that is both heartwarming and fantastic. I'm telling you, it's the best book out there. As the other reviewer wrote, we're waiting for the 6th-grade book. Feldheim, this was a great series to take!

My kids are not super into reading, but they kept fighting about who got to read it first. My review won’t do justice to this book, but according to my kids, it’s the most incredible book out there.

Not only was it incredibly accurate, but it gave my kids so much to think about. I loved how each of my kids focused on a different character, and I loved how we got to watch the connection between each kid and their parents.

The only part that frustrated my children, is that the six grade book isn’t out yet. You’re buying a book for your children, ages eight and up, this is the book. it doesn’t matter if it’s a boy or a girl they’re going to love this book.

I must admit I don’t usually read kids books, but I loved it as well. Suffice it to say, this is the book to buy.
