At twelve years old, Noa had everything. Growing up in Israel, this gentle and talented, young girl was happy and healthy. Then, one night as she tried to sleep, Noa was struck with sharp, unrelenting pain. She was rushed to the hospital and with this began a seventeen year battle with osteosarcoma, a virulent bone cancer that was destined to change her entire life. Incredibly, through the enormous challenges that she overcame- time and time again- she developed an unshakeable faith in Hashem and a strong sensitivity to others that won the heart of an American-born yeshiva student searching for his eishes chayil. Noa was convinced that her sickness was a Heaven-sent opportunity to help the lives of others, and during a five-year period of good health, she embarked on a medical career so that she could help those whose suffering she understood only too well. This story takes place in Sha’alvim, Ramat Beit Shemesh, Bayit VeGan, London, Teaneck, and Boro Park, but Noa’s great emunah inspired tens of thousands of people around the world who prayed for her. During the final year of her life, several emergency emails were sent out around the world urging everyone to daven for her recovery. You may have received one yourself, and the name “Techiya Noa Ester bas Chaya” may sound familiar even now, years later. Written by Boruch, Noa’s husband of nine years, during the months after her passing, Noa’s Strength is unique, inspiring, powerful…and true.

  1. A a powerful, serious read that can be quite emotional, as it is a true story.

    100%
Noa's Strength is a beautiful story written by Noa's husband, Boruch Sirisky. He brings the readers on Noa's journey through good time and hard times. The book is designed to show the struggle and bring out the inspiration.

The cover shows the turmoil of the storm with some shiny rays coming through the clouds. Throughout her life, Noa experiences a lot. Somethings are easier to see as clearly good, while others are cloudy and harder to handle.

It was very inspiring for me to see a passuk and Hebrew phrases at the start of a chapter and scattered throughout the book. Each phrase reminds the reader that it is all from Above and although it is hard, G-d gives us the strength to endure whatever the challenge my be.
I also liked the chose of details that are included in the book. When a book covers a long period of time, it is not possible to include every episode. This book includes the details relevant to the story that help bring out the message in a powerful way.

This book is for someone that wants to read the positive in a negative situation, someone that can become stronger when reading about another's strength.
It is also for someone who reads and understands or is at least familiar with Hebrew. The book can be understood without it, but it is not as powerful.

I have to say that it is quite an emotional read. It is also quite descriptive about Noa's physical condition. I personally didn't have a hard time reading it, but I can imagine that others might.

The pesukim before each chapter make one realize that Hakodosh Baruch Hu understands what we're going through at every step of our lives.

The book tremendously strengthens one's faith in Hakodosh Baruch Hu. It is so real. Nothing is exaggerated but written exactly as it took place.

I have passed this book on to several of my friends and they have all said the same thing
"As soon as I picked it up, I couldn't put it down". This book is inspirational and so well written.
I gained so much from this book - most of all because I knew that it was 100% - so I could really be inspired. I don't think I have ever read an English book more than once but I loved Noa's Strength and can't wait to read it again!
