Book of Shemuel
The comprehensive commentary of Rav Samson Raphael Hirsch to the Chumash is based on his interpretative method of precise elucidation of the text and meaning of the words. Rav Pinchas Wolf (1875-1968) applied this same method for his commentary to Shemuel, and has brought to light the timeless words of the Prophet in an original, inspiring fashion. This English version of the Hirschian commentary to Sefer Shemuel is written in a modern, clear idiom and will attract scholar and student alike
Rav Pinchas Wolf was a talmid of Rav Dovid Tzvi Hoffman of Berlin and Rav Aviezri Auerbach of Halberstadt and taught in the Samson Raphael Hirsch Realschule in Frankfurt. In 1900, he became Rav of the Talmud Torah of Cologne and in 1936 emigrated to Eretz Yisrael, where he became the Rav of Bais Hakenesses Mekor Chaim in Petach Tikvah.
