Excellent text for getting into the mechanics, i.e., the depth of the language while learning it. For the average person not knowing any Hebrew and wanting to just learn basics of everyday simple speech, aka, more so the casual learner, I feel this would be too intense. Also, I would suggest a study companion with tons of exercises to go along with the chapters for reinforcement as well as review.
