Description

Throughout the generations, the Siddur underwent significant changes and alterations, until the result was sometimes confusing and rife with errors. Rav Yaakov Emden (the Ya'avetz) sought to change this by painstakingly creating a Siddur with carefully chosen text, with laws and instructions to enlighten the person praying from it, and with the finest typography and paper he could procure. His Siddur, first published over a hundred years ago, was met with widespread acceptance. Now this monumental work has been translated into English, adding an extra dimension of meaning to all who find translation helpful. While the primary value of the original Siddur is as a reference work, the translated Siddur was intended to be used as an actual prayerbook. To that end, the Siddur was produced in two volumes: one contains all the introductory and explanatory material, replete with laws, Perek Shirah, and appendices, and the second volume contains the morning service with Rav Emden's instructions, notes, and commentary along with some additions. With clear, easy-to-read print, this is a Siddur truly in a class of its own. Nusach Sefard. 2-volume, shrink-wrapped set.

These volumes are a revelation for the interested, and interesting to the uneducated.

As a middle aged baal t'shuvah with an unquenchable thirst this set is magnificent.

At my level of hebrew I would have preferred if the commentary as well as the tefillot had nekudot.
There must be a 4th volume, for shabbat daytime, but it does not seem to be listed at present?

I have quite a collection of Feldheim material. You do a wonderful service to klal yisroel.

The Rav Yaakov Emden Siddur is an unbelievably well translated and produced Siddur which explains details about the Shabbos tefillos that I have never seen anywhere. I wish Feldheim would publish an Ashkenaz edition. This is a MUST. It is better than the existing Artscroll Siddur and that means something. The Hirsch Siddur is the next best Siddur I have learned from. You have to read this Siddur's commentary to understand what an incredible advance in understanding it presents every Yid who wishes to understand Teffilah on a high level. Unbelievable. Why was this Siddur not promoted and advertised when it was published? I just don't understand Feldheim sometimes. This is a significant advance for English Siddurim.
