Description

Debbie's job as a social worker is all-consuming--until her thoughts and roiling emotions become too much to bear. Can she escape from the ghosts of her past, from the love she never received as a child? And what will be with her brother, whose flight from his childhood took him as far away as the U.S. Military in Iraq? As Debbie's relationship with Rebbetzin Shoshana Cohen, she begins to make sense of her world, drawing conclusions she never imagined possible. An involved and diverse novel with an important message

Though the book is at times appears a little disjointed as different characters describe scenes in the story, Mrs. Fried is instrumental in weaving beautiful and important core Torah concepts into the novel. She artfully integrates the variety of human emotions in the complex world of family life, allowing for expression and resolution of conflict in a Torah based way.
As a Mom I was pleased to find a book that reinforced the reality of Hashem's constant hashgaha, the love for learning Torah and the importance of thriving to see deeper within ourselves in order to truly grow in the service of Hashem.
